Toys for Tots Event Proves SuccessfulBy InsidePOOL Staff The second annual Toys for Tots Pool Tournament at Par-A-Dice Hotel and Casino in East Peoria, IL, was a success, with many people going home winners.  Not only did the top 8-ball team win a hefty prize, but five boxes of wrapped toys were collected for the charity. The event, held November 26-27, 2004, to benefit the Marine Corp Reserve's Toys for Tots charity, specified that each player from each team bring at least one unwrapped toy, but with five big boxes, it was easy to see how generous the players were.  Also, both McDermott Cues and Aramith Billiard Balls donated equipment to be raffled off with all the proceeds going to the charity. Sarah Rousey, one of the newest stars on the WPBA Tour, also made an appearance and hosted the "Challenge the Pro" table.  once again, all the proceeds went to the Toys for Tots charity, helping to guarantee many children a very happy holiday season. The winning team on the festive green tables during the 8-ball tournament was "420," featuring Nate Leemon, Mike Dunklen, Ricky Halls, and Don Branson, who received $1,200, trophies, and a one-year subscription to InsidePOOL Magazine.  "Cheers for Beers," composed of Vaughn Rainey, Jack Sandall, Bill Abbott, and Jim Sandall, finished second and took home $800 and trophies. In third was "G-Burg," with Dorie Smith, Rory Smith, Brad Simpson, and Joel Fleming, and they earned $500, while the fourth-place team, "Defenders," made up of Bobby McGrath Sr., Dee McGrath, Larry Powers, Betty Powers, and John Yarger, took home $300.  "Hustlin" earned the fifth spot with Garie Morrow, Don Neckel, Brad Ogborn, Anthony Schultz, and Andy Dozart.     Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news in the sport of billiards and pool.
