Trest Comes From Behind for the VictoryDavid Trest eliminated his opponents on the west side of the chart and defeated Kevin Yates in the finals to take top honors at the KBP Fury Georgia event held June 19-20, 2004, at The Pool Room in Marietta, GA. Trest arrived on the one-loss side after Paco Chacon defeated him earlier in the day.Not only was Trest's skill challenged on his journey through the west side, but his patience was as well. Before arriving in the quarters, he faced Tea Jay Cottman and Darin Brewer, and each of these matches went hill-hill before Trest clinched the winning racks. The quarterfinal match was another hill-hill nailbiter as Jeff Clarks and Trest both kept things neck and neck, each trying to stay in the game. In the end, it was Trest that again took the final rack to end the match 5-4.Yates and Chacon were the final two on the winner's side battling it out for the hot seat. The two traded games until the score was hill-hill, and then Yates won the final rack, making the score 5-4 and sending Chacon to a rematch with Trest in the semis. In a near-repeat performance of their earlier match up, Trest and Chacon traded racks until the score was knotted at 4. Determined to win, Trest pulled out the stops and edged out Chacon 5-4 to earn his spot in the finals. In the final match, Trest bolted out to a four-game lead against Yates only to have Yates play catch up to bring the score 6-6. Keeping his cool, Trest methodically took the next three racks to defeat Yates 9-6.Results:1st David Trest2nd Kevin Yates3rd Paco Chacon4th Jeff Clarks5th Darin Brewer, Jesse Middlebrooks Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news in the sport of billiards and pool.
