Two in a Row for TarantolaBy Bill RosenbergerThe Action Tour rolled out a new format for its February 5 event at Rack-N-Roll Billiards in Stamford, CT. The matches changed from races-to-7 to races-to-9, and for UPA touring pro Evan Broxmeyer, it was the wrong week for the format to change.Broxmeyer was playing flawless pool and he had tournament director Jerry Tarantola down 7-2 in the semifinals. Had it been one week earlier, Broxmeyer's seventh win would have propelled him into the finals, but the format change gave Tarantola new life, and he ran off seven straight racks to earn the comeback win 9-8. "I couldn't believe it," said Broxmeyer. "I just sat there and had to watch."In the other semifinal match, Jeremiah Altamore out-dueled Chester Brown for a 9-6 win, earning his first trip to the finals. Tarantola and Alatamore displayed their offensive talents in the final match. They battled back and forth with minimal safety play until the match reached hill-hill. In the decisive game, Tarantola was able to run out for the 9-8 victory and his second straight Action Tour win.Results:1st Jerry Tarantola $3202nd Jeremiah Altamore $2253rd Evan Broxmeyer4th Chester Brown Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news from the Action Tour.
