Ulrich Repeats on Fury Lake Michigan TourBy J.A. Barnes A small but competitive field met up for the Fury Lake Michigan tour's second stop held at Brass Eagle Family Billiards in Bristol, IN, on April 30. By day's end, the field was narrowed to two, resulting in a well-fought final that was taken by Josh Ulrich. After undefeated runs through the winner's bracket, it was points leader Ulrich against fellow Fury Midwest player Ted Reeves playing for a spot in the hot seat. Reeves never had a chance as Ulrich was crowned king of the hill with a 7-0 shutout, sending Reeves to the "B"-side. Reeves traveled west to meet up with Tony Davenport, who had been sent to the west side by Ulrich earlier. Davenport had made a good run on the left side but was quickly ousted by Reeves by a score of 5-2 and settled for third place. The final match between Ulrich and Reeves was initially close until Ulrich pulled ahead to take a 6-3 lead. He followed this up with a combo and a 9 ball on the snap to strengthen the lead to 8-3. Reeves got in gear, though, as he ran out the next three racks to come within two games at 8-6. When Reeves narrowed the gap at 8-7, it looked like Ulrich could have an upset on his hands; however, Ulrich was not going to let the match go hill-hill and bore down to win the match 9-7.
