Undefeated Victory for Jenkins
Canadian 30K Tour / Newmarket, ONT
by Willy Hermoza and Tony Butera
The weekend of March 17-18 saw 45 players demonstrate their prowess on the Canadian 30K Tour’s stop. Hosted by Bigwigs in Newmarket, ONT, the ultimate winner was Chris Jenkins, who triumphed over Jim Martin for first place.
With Sunday bringing back eight players, Jenkins had to face Ed Reyes in the winners’ bracket, scoring an 8-5 victory to advance to the hot seat match against John Everekian. Jenkins easily cruised by Everekian by a score of 8-3, sending his opponent to the one-loss grind to hope for another chance.
Reyes didn’t make it past fourth place, as he was defeated by Martin in the quarterfinals. Waiting for his second chance, Everekian had to face off against Martin next, who handed him his second loss and a third-place finish. However, he came up against a stone wall in the finals, with Jenkins shutting him down quickly and masterfully 9-2 to win the event.
