WPBA Billiard Season Opens in Carolina
The Women's Professional Billiard Association (WPBA) kicked off their season with a bang in Rocky Mount, NC. Hosted by the Gateway Convention Center, the Carolina Classic event brought 64 of the finest female pool players to vie for first place.

Defending champion Karen "The Irish Invader" Corr will play in the evening rounds, but most of the top players have already notched a victory so far. Allison Fisher bested Caroline Pao by a stunning 9-1 margin, and Helena Thornfeldt dusted Amanda Lampert 9-4.
Ga-Young Kim, one of the most titled players on the tour, met Susan Wilbur in the afternoon rounds and destroyed her 9-3 in a matter of minutes. Elsewhere, Monica Webb, ranked fourth by the WPBA, played a slightly longer set against Maureen Seto that saw the Georgian advance 9-1.
In the earlier rounds, Sarah Rousey triumphed hill-hill over Pam Treadway, while Morgan Steinman enjoyed the same result in her match with Alice Rim. Veteran player Ewa Laurance bested opponent Joanne Ashton 9-5, while Dawn Hopkins also advanced by defeating Debbie Schjodt 9-7.
The Carolina Classic began Thursday, February 22, and will conclude this Sunday, February 25. Sunday's matches will be taped by ESPN for broadcast at a later date.
