Wong Starts the Year Off Right By John Leyman Spin City Billiards Café hosted their first Tri-State Tour event of 2005 on January 16, with Michael Wong snaring the win. Wong not only took the first win of the year, but he also extended his winning streak to two, as he won the last event of 2004. Wong, a "C"-class player, faced some tough competition in Pablo Sanz, Dmitry Rozenfeld, and Elise Rosen to reach the hot seat match. His opponent was Ryan Duttkin, who had gone undefeated to reach the hot seat match. Wong and Duttkin played a tough match, but Wong survived and moved on to the finals. In the one-loss side, Alain Barry, a "D+" player, was the hot story. After his opening-round defeat, he stepped his game up and breezed through the west side to reach the semifinals against Duttkin. Barry continued his hot play with a win and the shot at Wong in the finals. In the finals, though, Wong proved unstoppable, easily winning 6-2.
