Xiaoting Pan Wins Great Lakes Classic

Runner-up at the Carolina Classic, Xiaoting Pan has made her mark on women’s professional billiards with her first win on the WPBA Tour, scoring a victory over tour veteran Helena Thornfeldt to reach the winner’s seat.
A grueling televised semifinal round began Sunday, with Carolina Classic champion Ga-Young Kim facing off against Sweden’s Thornfeldt. That match was a close one, but Sweden prevailed, taking a winning score of 7-5 to advance to the finals.
In the other semifinal match, Pan, who was runner-up at the Carolina Classic event, prevailed over Britain star Kelly Fisher by a whopping 7-3 score. She went on to meet Thornfelt in the televised finals. In a fairly one-sided match, Pan won the race to 7 by only giving up 2 games to her opponent, becoming a champion in her own right with her 7-2 victory.
