Zuglan's Home-Court Defense Falls Short Against Rubertoby Bill RosenbergerMike Zuglan, tournament director of the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour, hosted the March 12-13 event at his poolroom, Pro Billiard Lounge.  In 2004, he used the home-court advantage to earn the victory, but this year, he fell short, as Tony Ruberto swept through the field undefeated.  The Rotterdam, NY, room drew 29 players, and o­n Sunday night, the final four battled it out for the victory.  o­n the winners' side, Jason Michas bested Zuglan 9-3 to reach the hot seat match against Ruberto, who easily turned the tables o­n Michas, defeating him 9-3 as well.In the o­ne-loss side, Zuglan ousted Frankie Hernandez 9-7, setting up a rematch with Michas in the semifinals.  They battled back and forth, reaching 7 apiece, before Zuglan took the last two games to advance to the finals.In the final match, Ruberto never trailed, winning 9-4.  Zuglan's o­nly defense to his dismal final performance was his "pro dogs"-the house specialty that he cooked up for everyone in attendance.  Results:1st Tony Ruberto $1,3002nd Mike Zuglan $8503rd Jason Michas $6504th Frankie Hernandez $4705th Paul Rozonewski, Darren Belliveau $3257th Frank Sorriento, Greg Antonakos $200 Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news from the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour.
